French Polynesia: Health officials reported the first cases of locally transmitted chikungunya in Tahiti, as well as on Austral and Palliser islands. Chikungunya symptoms include fever and joint pain, headache, muscle pain, joint swelling or rash. The only protection is to avoid mosquito bites.
